Some of the largest garment vendors and suppliers of raw materials for VS products are based in Sri Lanka . The company is seeking to reduce cycle times, and improve speed to market, so that consumers have the styles they want, in the colours and sizes they want, when they want it. Their strategy is to synergise the value chain through building a collaborative culture throughout, and thus leveraging the capabilities of all stakeholders to achieve the end state they believe will make them sustainably successful.
Sage partnered with the managements of VS, their vendor and supplier partners in Sri Lanka to launch this ambitious initiative – We worked with them to design and deliver a series of workshops that brought key representatives from VS, the garment vendors and suppliers together in one room to ‘imagine' a working model of a truly collaborative value chain, and its attendant benefits. They were truly energised by the picture they created; and then we looked at the reality of the gap that needed to be bridged to create the new. The work continues, and it has taken 12 months to get here.
This has been an incredibly satisfying assignment for us with this European knitwear manufacturer. We have been working with them for over one and one half years. The basic brief is to ensure they delight customers and profitably grow the business. They are now getting customers back who had refused to deal with them, and their order books are filling to levels not previously reached. They are also expanding their production facilities.
Our pleasure in working with the management team of this organisation stems from their total committed to making the change work. We helped them become a team through a combination of training, manager coaching, and business projects to apply the learning. We are currently working with them to revamp their HR management system, in order to improve alignment of the 2000 strong workforce with the ‘new' goals of the organisation.
Sage was invited by this German NGO (Non Government Organisation) to work with a selected group of 17 young people from the Hambantota District (South of Sri Lanka), which was badly affected by the Tsunami. Our brief was to develop their leadership, management, and team skills, which we did over nine days. This was a difficult assignment as it was almost entirely conducted in Sinhala: All documentation translated, and the program's facilitation. We helped prepare these young people to work in their communities and develop peoples' ability to create and expedite business opportunities – self sufficiency being the prime goal.
This core group of people epitomizes racial and religious harmony, and a strong work ethic, and they will be great role models for others to follow.
Sage is one of a few suppliers who were selected to deliver specific communication skills training for the John Keells Group. We worked with their Learning & Development Department to align programs to needs identified through their appraisal system. The areas of focus were: Public Speaking & Presentation Skills, Basic and Advanced Communication Skills. This was a very interesting exercise because we also worked with the other consulting companies selected, to design pre-program preparation strategies and follow-up strategies as well.
